30 Nov - 01 Dec 2024 - Madame Tussauds Waxworks
30 Nov 2024
We finished our guided tour last night, and after a day standing in the rain for the Thanksgiving Parade, followed by a night out in the cold looking at lights, I woke up terribly crook!
I spent the day in bed, whilst Lizzie (God bless her cotton socks!) went grocery shopping and came home to cook me some delicious chicken soup. What a shame I couldn't taste it!!!!
01 Dec 2024
Despite being under the weather, I dragged myself out of bed to go and visit the Madame Tussauds wax museum downtown with Lizzie. She had never been to one of these museums before, but I think she was pleasantly surprised. Some of the wax models were a little off, but most of them were an incredibly likeness for the real person!
It took about 1 1/2 hours to go through, and was a good way to see something new in NYC.
Around the corner we found Marilyn Monroe in her provocative subway grate pose - so, once again, Lizzie and I had to strike a pose. Who did it better?
After seeing all these wonderful models (and more), we were off again to explore more of the city and came across the M&M store. I was blown away! Two full floors of everything M&M you could imagine, including a wall of self-serve chutes where you could buy just about ANY colour of M&M you ever dreamed of!
That night, we went to see a Broadway play at the James Earle Jones Theatre that had been recommended to us by Jen the tour guide. It was called Left On Tenth and starred Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”), Peter Gallagher (“While You Were Sleeping”), and was based on a true story. It was absolutely wonderful to watch, and we both enjoyed it very much.
Then it was home to bed with another big day planned for tomorrow. But you'll have to wait for that update!
Stay tuned...

We have been to many Madame Tussaud’s museums around the world but not in New York. You are correct with your appraisal that some of the figures are somewhat dubious. I do not think that the model of QE II was convincing. Apart from that, it would have been a brilliant experience for Lizzie to meet some of the stars f the stage, television and big screen. Wonderful

Thanks Lizzie. Lot of sweat so far. Almost feels like the body is melting.
Jim’s Gardening guy that cleaned up number 25 offered me a job as his assistant because he saw the place before I attacked it. I laughed and kindly declined the offer.
